How many Stage RODI do I really need?

Tired of going to the LFS for water. Pretty sure a RODI would have paid off already by now. Im running two 10g QT tanks and a 32g cube so I dont need high GPD production. My cities tap water has an average TDS rating of 28ppm for reference. Assume I can trend toward fewer stages?
 
FWIW, most RODI systems use far more ANION resin, so I found that I was wasting a lot of the mixed resin. I added a canister to my rodi system and now run seperate cation and anion canisters.

I have replaced the anion at least 6 times in the last two years, and still have not touched the cation.

A 5 stage 75GPD is the minimum I would do.

That's the same setup/config that I run, except mine has a 100GPD membrane.

I ran this system for 5 years like that and just recently decided to add a booster pump to the system. Holy cow did that make a big difference! Now I wish I had done it from the start. Makes water so much faster now.

I'd definitely recommend a booster pump if your pressure is on the lower side. My pressure was around 60psi, which I didn't think was all that terrible, but I was surprised how big of a difference adding the booster pump made.

Yea, I would probably run a pump. Most homes are regulated pressure because higher PSI decreases the life span of fridge/dishwashers/etc. If you can pull from before the regulator you might see higher numbers.

I love my system-- and I agree a booster pump will no doubt be worth while.
 
I run a 4 stage and have 4 tanks including a 330g . Been doing it for 10 years or so. Nothing wrong with running more i suppose. For a brief period I ran two di stages so if the first stage was depleted I still got 0 TDS. I would swap the second stage to the first stage then add the fresh cartridge as the last stage. I ended up going back to a single di and just change it when needed. I have about 180 TDS in and get zero out so I can't think of a reason I need more stages. No chloramine so no extra stage needed for that. I do run a booster pump because with my regulator maxed I only get 40 psi.
