Currently I am running four Kessil 360X and the fan noise level on all four units are not that loud.

How noisy is the G5 Radion XR30 blue version?

If I get 3 G5 Radion XR30 blue units, how noisy will all 3 units be?

If you have Kessil 360X in the past and is currently using the G5 Radion, how is the fan noise comparing these two lights?

I personally dont own these light but from what I have heard from people who do own them is that they are dead quiet no matter how many units you have.

I can't compare to the Kessil as I have never owed it but I am running the XR30 G5 blue. The fan sound depends on what you have the lights set on. At peak power in the middle of my light cycle the intensity is at 58%. I can hear the fan running if I am listening for it but I have never been walking by or near the tank and it caught my attention as annoying or abnormal. At lower than 50% I dont hear them running and I also dont hear them running during ramp up or ramp down. Some of that probably depends on the ambient temperature in your enviroment.

I’m tagging along. I’ve also read the reviews about them being loud but I’d love to grab some xr15 blues.

I haven't even heard mine. If I'll be dead honest. I don't have the quietest tank in the world though so if the fans make any noise it's getting drowned out.

I have had 3 XR30 G5 Blue here for a few days and the fans are so loud, louder than those of the G4 Pro. They sound cheap, plastic and somehow always, despite 40% performance as on 100% .. terrible !!

Since ‘noisy’ is a relative term, has anyone done any decibel testing of various lights to compare with factual data points? Maybe Kessils, AI, Orphek, Radions (G4, G5) at various power levels?

@Bulk Reef Supply in case they need more ideas!!

A video/series on creating the quietest tanks is another idea.

I don't find the fans noisy at all. Yes, you hear them but it is a whoosh of air noise which is not obtrusive vs any type of motor or humming noise. When standing right text to them they aren't any louder than my overflow, which is an Elos quite drain. You cannot hear my sump as its completly contained and all DC pump driven. The fan will run at max speed for 10-15 min and then with the fan shutdown enabled it will shut the fans down or to an inaudilbe level for about 30 min before kicking back up to cool it back down. I have noticed the fans kick on to 100% more often/quicker with the diffuser installed. I can barely hear them, unless listening for, over my a/c and hepa filter when they're running.

Here are the decibel readings with 1 x XR30 G5 Blue running (a/c and house fans/filters turned off), max fan speed set to 100%:
  • Ambient noise in quietest room: 29.5
  • Ambient noise in living/kitchen room 20 ft from tank: 36.5
  • 10 ft away from tank: 39.5
  • 5 ft away from tank: 41.3
  • 1 ft away from tank: 45
  • literally right next to the fan exhaust: 49.7

my dealer gave me the tip to deactivate "fan shutdown". But, I find this point in the menu great. finally no more fan noise from the lamps at night. So why should one, just because ecotech installed cheap plastic fans, avoid it to get a reasonably quiet running noise of the fans?

I went from 3 xr30 Gen 4's that I could hear the fans but didn't bother me to 3 XR30 Gen 5 Blues that I cannot hear the fans.

One meter away from the lights. Acclimation mode on 75% now. Not fully powered but very noisy (G5 Pro).... really disappointing. Fan auto shutdown enabled.

Hi I have 3 Xr15 Pros over my tank that recently replace 4 x Hydra26HDs. The Radions are MUCH louder IMO. I run them @60%. The tank is in the dining room but I can hear them from the living room some 5 mtrs or so away but it's a whooshing sound. However I still love the lights and Mobius so will not be changing them out
