How often do you change socks/floss?

I change my socks and floss every 3 days I feed heavy and most of my tanks are bare bottom.

Bleach is cheap and easy to source and IME it does more than just change the color. It dissolves the organics and I get much better flow after bleaching. Drying for three days seems to work for me. But hey, whatever works, right?
I have to agree with this. H2O2 may be better for cleaning them, but bleach is MUCH cheaper and gets the job done. If they're going through the washer, then they're getting washed/cleaned enough to use (if you're getting flow through them and your PO4 isn't going up, then it's good enough IMHO).

Mine get turned inside out, then they go into a 5 gallon bucket of water with a cup of bleach in it for a day, then they spend two days in buckets of fresh water, then into the washer, washed, and hung up to air dry outside in a semi sunny location on my screened porch. Then they get put back into the rotation. :)

Worst part of my order of operations is having to turn them inside out!:D

agreed felt socks are a pain to turn inside out. I have just been running mine in the wash machine twice on quick cycle and letting them dry. Wondering if i should add the bleach?
