I am wanting to move from All For Reef to BRS two part and then supplement with Kalk. I am currently keeping things stable with 30ml of AFR daily. Any idea on initial dose of BRS 2 part?

AFR concentration should be:
Specifications (per 1,000 mL of mixed solution)

  • Carbonate Hardness Concentration: 6,000 dKH
  • Calcium Concentration: 43,000 mg Ca

But I have no idea how to interpret that into a daily 2-part dose.

There is a way to do so with a little bit of math on your end

Here is the calculator for all-for-reef. https://www.tropic-marin-smartinfo.com/all-for-reef?lang=en

Lets say you have a 20 gallon and are dosing 1KH a day. The all for reef calculator will tell you that 3.79ml=0.28KH and 2ppm calcium. 0.28 goes into 1 about 3.57 times, therefore 3.57x3.79=13.53ml to dose 1KH.

Now you just have to apply your tank volume and do the math.

Thank you, @Spare time I had no idea the AFR calculator existed!
Based on my 110 gal system, it will take 20.8ml of AFR for .28dkh.

For simple math - lets say I am currently dosing AFR 50% more than that (31.2ml per day).
Therefore, I should expect AFR to be adding .42KH (50% more than .28KH) per day.

Based on the BRS calculator, a 110 gal system will take 33ml of soda ash to raise 110 gal by .42KH.

Is my math correct?

So it is correct that you are using roughly 0.42KH a day with 30ml of all for reef daily. That would be about 35ml ish of brs soda ash so yes I think you are correct

I'm sure this is anecdotal, but in my system (I use AFR and BRS 2 part) it takes twice as much BRS 2 part to get the same ALK bump...

There are multiple BRS recipes. The most common is the soda ash recipe, which is quite close to All for reef in potency.

AFR claims to be 5600 dKH (not sure where the 6,000 came from above, but BRS lists it as 5600) and my DIY recipe 1 (the BRS soda ash recipe) is 5300 dKH.

So switching to BRS and matching alkalinity doses should require 1.96 times as much.
