I started using a bucket as a reservoir for my skimmer, because since dosing vodka, it’s needing to be emptied every day.

I need to get some gadget that will notify me before the bucket gets too full and overflows. I want to avoid flooding my floors with skimmer juice.

My bucket is just a regular 5 gallons bucket with a lid.

Any idea that won’t cost too much ? Thanks !

It’s a good option. In Canada, with shipping it will be 130$. I’d like to pay less than that, ideally.

Or use the ATO float from autotopoff to trigger an alert. $33 plus the cost off a piezo buzzer.

Which brand ?

For now I ordered this from Amazon. I already had the hub so it only cost me 38$ CAD. I’ll test it today and if I don’t like it I’ll look at other options.

None, besides my Inkbird for temperature. My corals aren’t worth the investment. I can barely grow any for now.
Are you looking for something with just an audible alarm or something that will ping a notification on your phone?

About 1/2 way down is a skimmer controller. You can mount it in the top of the pail.

Skimmer
Controller turns off your skimmer pump when your skimmate cup is full. 3" long stem mounts through 3/8" hole in your skimmate cup lid. Float switch detaches from controller for cup cleaning. It can also be mounted like this using a float switch holder available on our brackets page.

I return what I had bought because it wasn’t mean to be hung in a bucket and was causing tons of false alarm and never shutting off.

I got one with a probe, same brand, and it tested perfectly. It also stops sounding an alarm as soon as you lift it from the water, which is what I wanted.

I use the Apex with an optical sensor on the bucket. When the sensor trips, it shuts off the skimmer and throws me a push notification.
