Not sure I would do that to my first custom tank lol......Miracles is doing that coating on the back for me this time but maybe I will try it on my QT or frag tank when I get around to setting one up.

Great read! When I painted the background on my frag tanks, I just bought some non toxic acrylic paint that you would use for painting a picture and rolled it on with a "weenie" roller. After two applications it ended up being perfect. I figured it wouldn't hurt to use some non-toxic paint.

Exactly how I did my 40B :) Was very easy and fast to do :)

Not a bad idea! I've tried a similar method in the past and always had water get behind it somehow, which drives me absolutely insane! Nothing gets between paint and glass ;)

I used one sided black vinyl that you can buy at any custom sign shop. Just apply like you would window tint in a car.
