I started using carbon pellets about three months ago everything is in good shape with the levels on alk cal and phos and I have been dosing some mb7 but red slime anyway. I was under the understanding that pellets didn't have this issue like vodka dosing hmmmm. I am stumped what to do. Is anyone else dealing with this? What did you or are you doing to battle this stuff.

Kill your lights untill the red slime dies off. then resume with less lighting

Too many days with the lights off will have an impact on your corals. I would not go more than 2 consecutive days with lights off.

red slime as in cyanobacteria i assume.
if so i would say you might have went with too much pellets at ones or your flow isnt right.
how long have you been running the pellets.
what kinda stocking?
how much pellets are you using?
water volume?
rough tank age?

I had a very bad case of red slime (cyanobacteria) that covered many areas of rock, substrate and the back and side glass. Picked up a product called CHEMICLEAN RED SLIME REMOVER. Completely removed slime in 1 treatment. Probable cause was high phosphates.

Started sugar dosing and outbreak has yet to return. and phosphates are non-detectable.
