as some of you might have saw my post of coralife salt has around 12dkh which to me it’s crazy high as I am keeping my tanks at around 8.

now, I have read that there a some chemicals that I can lower the level but I am just too nervous to try it. I do believe they work and all lower ph but why not vinegar?

if so how much do I add per gallon to lower let say from 12 to 8-9? I usually mix a 32g brute bucket.

thanks in advance.

Sodium bisulfate. Simple easy and inexpensive.
You would not want to loadup your new salt mix with a form of organic carbon that could lead to a bacterial outbreak, imo.
Thats why we use chems.

How much do I use in my application?

Buy a small bottle. Monitor ph and add a little at a time. Less is better.
Their is a calculation on how much to add but you will have to search for it.
Your ph will drop to 7ish. Lower if you add to much at once.
Test alk and add more. Keep doing this until you reach the desired alk.

Note: run a strong powerhead and airstone while mixing. Ph will come up when the co2 is driven from the solution.

I wonder If I stop dosing kalk via ato and just water change weekly that would be ok since the coralife salt has high alk and cal.

my current tank alk is at around 8.5, with 10% weekly.

or should I just take a loss and sell the 8 buckets I have and go with either fritzs or Kent marine. Both fit my alk level and budget, fritz is more readily available.
