How to Stop Microbubbles with eshopps af250 sump

Hey Everyone,

I recently (3 to 4 weeks ago) switched from a red sea to avoid a catastrophe. I plumbed a herbie on my new tank and cannot get rid of microbubbles. Skimmer does not seem to be causing them however I have the Eshopps AF-200 sump where the water goes into each of the chambers then leaves them to the return chamber individually, it does not pass from 1 to the next. ( I hate the design personally but think this could contribute to the bubbles since 1/3 of the water goes from the skimmer directly to the return chamber) (Even though i don't see any?)

I was thinking to maybe use a little bit of aquamesh or some fine soft sponge at the outlet of my return line but I don't see any bubbles coming out of there?

I also read it could be some new sand I used but seems like a lot of bubbles any help would be great thanks so much!!

While a large mesh sponge placed in the right location can be a solution, my initial suggestion would be to continue to work to determine the source of the micro bubbles. A couple of places to check are to make sure that the skimmer is assembled correctly and to make sure that there are no air leaks coming into the plumbing. Can you see micro bubbles in the sump or do they just appear in the display tank at the return?

Thank you. I dont see any bubbles in the sump just the display. I will check my return line, perhaps some air is getting in somehow.

Based on that info, I would focus on the section of pipe that is out of the water and between the return pipe and the return into the display tank. Good luck!
