How to tell when dinos are beat?

My dinos on the sand bed are no longer a dark rusty colour, but yet instead it looks like grey dust? And not like dinos at all. I have been dosing pytho and silicates for about a month and only running my skimmer at night.

I believe Dino’s are never truly gone from a reef tank, rather the competitors / conditions don’t favor them. If for some reason the competitors die and phosphate or nitrate reach 0 they will be back
