I just bought a 55 gal. Aquarium and i currently have a 29 gal.... How should i upgrade it fish out then water then rock then sand or should i just... Idk any ideas!!

You'll want to remove the fish, then the rocks. The sand last, and you'll want to rinse the sand out really well before adding it to the new tank. Have the new tank water made up ahead of time. Alot of people use totes from walmart to hold there fish and rock in, for the tank move.

I have always removed most of the water then rocks then the fish to prevent them from getting hurt in the rock-work and it is a lot easier to catch the fish with less water in the tank for them to swim around. I would also use the 2 net method 1 net is never enough and 2 nets make it stupid easy. I have done it this way at least 5 time with out a fish death.

I took out all the rocks, then most of the water. To catch the fish I use a piece of clear acrylic that fits perfectly and I corner the fish. My tank is bare bottom so using the acrylic was easy.

I just did my upgrade from 30 to 72 I used new sand though and used sand from my established tank to seed. But I put new sand in my new tank then I took all my rock from my old tank out made my new aqua scape with all the rock. I then prepared ro water to fill up my 72 days before But I filled it all the way up then I took my canister filters threw those in the tank and i let it sit for 2 days once it was crystal clear i put power heads and heaters in. Now while all this was going on my established tank had no rock just fish and sand I had no corals at the time. All I left was a small power head a heater and my skimmer on it until I had my new tank all set up and cycled. Then I just caught all my fish with a net threw them in swapped over the skimmer and rest of the equipment in the new tank and now my established tank is a simple QT hope this helps lol

Thanks for all the help my 55gal. is up and going.. so I didn't rock then coral... then fish then water.....
