Huge pagoda polyps?

I've got a pagoda cup that looks as if it was part of a colony that was originally probably larger than a dinner plate.
When I got it the polyps were probably the size of a dime and now some are larger than a quarter and look almost like duncans.
My question is...is this normal? I've never seen a pagoda with polyps that large before.

Growth pattern/size is often a function of light and flow for many corals. I'm guessing the flow is not very high in that location?

It doesn't have direct flow, but it's not considerably low either. But, now that you mention it, the polyps on that side are larger than the other side and the side with the smaller (but not much smaller) polyps does have a little higher flow. It makes sense.

I was just curious if polyps that large were common. Never personally seen any that large, and they've just recently started growing like that. As far as I know nothing has really changed that would cause them to grow differently after the year it's been in the tank.

I can't say I've ever seen them that large either, but I'm not surprised by it. I wouldn't say it's common.
