How does everyone control humidity in the house? Is wasn’t a problem during summer and fall, it pretty much stayed consistent 90-110 well into October here so the ac was on for probably 9 months straight. Now that it’s winter ac is off and the wife and I like it cold so thermostat is usually set to 68, so heather doesn’t run much. Cleaning under the couch today I found a pretty big condensation problem. Got a humidity monitor and it’s at 77% inside. I turned the thermostat to a sweltering 71 a couple hours ago and humidity dropped to 65. So how can I keep humidity down without making the house an oven? Will a standard dehumidifier be enough to combat about 150 gallons in a 1400sqft home?

I keep a dehumidifier running in my house 24/7. It allows me to keep my humidity in the 60% range, which is still too high honestly. I cant tell you how much the dehumidifier helps but without it I begin to have condensation on anything that is a little cold in the house, while with it the only thing that condensates is my windows.
I have a 125g, 100g, 29g, and a 15g tank in a 2400 sq ft house and I can tell a difference with mine running. So, I would guess in your situation it would probably help considerably.

I’ll have to try a dehumidifier. Last couple days it’s been somewhat clear and sunny and mid day temps around high 50s low 60s, so we had the house open up a couple times for a little. Humidity seems stabilized at 66% now.

Containment is biggest help. - Glass lids on the tank, lids on the sump etc.

Dehumidifier could be a pain, maybe just a bathroom vent fan or even a HRV.

I was kind of thinking of putting a fan inside the stand. It has to be in the 90s under there. I was thinking if I don’t let it build up in there it might dissipate faster in the house.
