Thoughts on an HVAC grille directly behind opening in tank cabinet. It lines up perfectly with the cabinet and is fed from my forced hot air furnace which also provides the AC. Figured it may be helpful in some situations and hurt in others. Should I just damper it off? Thoughts?

Do you mean its blowing hot air to the tank? If so it should be fine imo. But if the fresh air intake is sucking near the tank it might corrode the funace.

Agreed with above. I'm and HVAC tech in soflo. If its a supply grille (Leaving system to grille) it should be good to go.

If its your return air grille (sucking back to system) then I would consider finding a different location for either the return or the tank. It will definitely corrode it.

Thanks guys. I do HVAC and plumbing for a living as well. Can’t believe I forgot to mention it was a supply grille haha. Must have been trying to type that message while holding the baby.
