So, I was thinking...

Where head height on return pumps are the considered, as height increases, GPH flow decreases.

Is the same true with HVAC returns. Does the amount of air a return draws decrease as it gets further from the furnace?
 
Not necessarily. Hvac is measured in CFM and static pressure. Not head pressure. Things do have to be sized properly. If too small static pressure will get high and cause stress on blower motor.

Yes, the distance increases the resistance to flow
