So I guess you can say things are starting to get serious here...

 I'm going zeovit...

I'm waiting for my alk levels to drop a bit before I start up the reactor. I have to drop it very slowly from 175ppm to 125ppm which is the level I want when running zeovit.

Why to 7dkh?? Is that the sweet spot for zeovit?

Yes, because a zeovit tank is basically a ULNS system so having higher alk isn't ideal for the corals

I feed to much Imto run zeovit

I keep my fish well fed as well. But with zeovit and water changes keeping nutrients in check should be fine.

So I've been a man on a mission trying to rebuild my acan collection. A few trips to my LFS has me going on the right track. Here are some pics of what I have collected so far. Sorry about the quality of the pics, I was in a mad rush to get them done before the radiums shut off. I hate shooting pics under just the reefbrites.

Here is a quick group shot of what I have so far
IMG_0003 3.JPG

A very nice red acan, this IMO is probably the least nice one I got so far lol. And its still pretty nice though lol

This acan I am the most excited about, and go figure I couldn't get a decent pic before the lights went off lol. But I think you can get the idea on how nice these ones are and will be.

These ones I think I'm going to call the White Tigers. From the side they look similar to the first ones I posted here
IMG_0008 3.JPG

But top down they SHINE! The centers remind me of a tiger's eye

So with these and the others I have posted already I think I have a decent collection going.

What do you guys think?

I try, but seems like something always come up lol. My work schedule doesn't really allow me to do many errands during The week so I have to cram them all in on weekends.

So with me starting zeovit soon I needed a new salt that has a lower alk level. I thought about just switching to the blue bucket red sea salt but I still wanted to other levels of elements. So I decided to try this out

20170509_230858.jpg

Aquaforest reef salt. It has alk of 7.8-8.2 which is perfect for a zeovit system. Does anyone have personal experience with this salt? I've heard pretty decent things.

So I'm going to just leave these here...

I have in my possession the Neptune Apex FMK with an additional 1/4" sensor. The kit comes with a 1" sensor and 2 1/2" sensors. I'll be using the 1" on my return, a 1/2" on my carbon reactor and the 1/4" on my CaRX feed. I'm not sure what to use the other sensor on. Maybe my Zeovit reactor I'll be setting up soon?

I got around to doing some tests on the aquaforest reef salt I got recently. First off I must say I never thought I would find a salt that mixed faster and cleaner than good ol' Red Sea Coral Pro but I was wrong. This salt literally mixes in less than 10 minutes, and I mean it's crystal clear at that point. I'm definitely impressed. Now onto my test results, I mix up 15 gallons at a time( I change out 15 gallons every weds and sun night)

Using 5 scoops with the provided scooper

Salinity came out to this
20170518_005944.jpg

It was zero'd out right before using rodi water and lens wiped clean with a hand towel and then followed up with a microfiber towel. So that's right where I want it, nice.

Next up alk
20170518_010402.jpg

124ppm =7.0 sky

Yaaay! My target for achieving with zeovit. Really nice

Now here is where I frowned a bit. I tested calcium with my Red Sea Calcium Pro kit. And it came out at 345 ppm! That's low, too low. So I guess I'll have to dose a little calcium to bring it up to where I like it at 420ppm.

So all in all I'm happy with this salt except for the calcium results. Could it be my test kit? Anything is possible. Does anyone have any other thoughts on this salt?

I think if you raise the sg to 1.026 will raise calcium to atleast 390. Its possible to be your test kit, i use the red sea kit for calcium as well. After the bottles are open for a while, i do get a tad lower reading against the readings on salifert. Ive heard the alk is around 7 with AF but never the calcium being that low.

I agree I'd be checking that calcium test kit. I've never seen any of their salts that low in calcium . As far as the rest of the results they look pretty close to what I've seen.

Mixes great don't it lol! [emoji41]

Yeah, the salt mixes really well. I can see two issues...1) You are happy with the alk but if this is the reef salt then it should be near 7.3-7.7 dkH or 135 ppm. 2) The calcium is low too. With 1.0249 salinity it should be near 410-430 ppm. I will check the Ca with another kit like salifert.
