I was wondering if any of you could please share pictures of how you mounted your Hydra light. I’ve read lots of reviews about the arm mount that AI makes and many people do not recommend them. Also hanging the light from the ceeling is not an option. Any other advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I also have the arms but I could not mount them to my tank. I drilled a couple of holes and mounting them on the wall.

Seen a few folks use shelving hardward similar to this:

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/lighting/aquarium-led/giesemann.html

And a few that used the cheap wall mount tv wall hangers from Amazon similar to this (great idea):

I can’t drill the wall behind the tank bc there is a big mirror. Sorry forgot to mention that. Thank you though!!

Oh, and I made a 1/2 acrylic block for a tank with a rim so that they would mount at a 90 degree.

Following along on this one. I have a 120 gallon tank and it has 2 glass braces and mounting off the arms won’t be a good where my lights need to go.

What arms exactly?
The HMS mounts for the hydra. I know ppl complain about the quality VS price but I honestly have no complaints. They work fine with the lights, look nice, I think they're built well, infinitely adjustable, don't sag, and fit on my tank.

I agree about the HMS lights. I currently have one mounted on my 30 gal half cylinder and it looks good and feels very Sturdy. For my 120 they wont be able to mount where i need them for light placement because the braces are in the way.

Do they worked for rimmed tanks?

Search EBay for the Red Sea mounts. I bought my lights from someone that got a Red Sea tank and picked up the light and their mounts together. I’m sure you will eventually come across the Red Sea mounts alone. They are sturdy and feel like they are built well. Have had no issues and no complaints.

If your tank is rimmed and you're wanting to use either the HMS, or Flex arm I have a cheap solution for you. Get yourself a couple of wine bottle corks, and shave 2 sides (opposite of each other) to make a flat surface. Place them between your tank and bracket and tighten your screws down. Both flex arm, and HMS stand hold stead, with out having to readjust.

EDIT: Added some pics for a visual

I was thinking to try some of this attached to the back of the stand.
