I just used a two by four and a two by two I figured even if they warp or bend in a few years it only cost like 10 bucks with screws to accomplish/replace.

Thank you all. I just went with the hanging kit. It actually turned out good.

As others have noted, this is unstable on rimmed tanks. The flexible arm is great, but the bracket is simply not sturdy on your standard Aqueon/Marineland tank.

Fortunately, AI is aware of the problem and is making a new bracket to install with the goose arm that works perfectly. I got my hands on one early and it works great.
