Hydrogen peroxide treatment killed frog spawn

It has been a rough start. I was mislead by my LFS and added livestock to soon. My tank drastically declined so I hired someone to come test everything to help get it balanced and eliminate an algae bloom before I lose anymore livestock. I was treating the tank with a natural nitrate reducer because nitrates were 80 ppm. They are now around 5 ppm. We believe the H202 reacted with the nitrate reducer increasing pH causing the reaction. The tank is now back on track and doing good.

I guess we all start somewhere. Not to mention the inconsistency and how everyone advises people on these blogs.

I’ve used hydrogen peroxide many times at a higher dose then 1ml per 10gal. with no ill effects on any corals or fish.

2ml of peroxide in 20h should not do that I belive. What else was dosed with it?
An alk or ph buffer perhaps?


6mo is more than fine for coral and has nothing to do with the nitrogen cycle.

My gut says somthing is wrong with your source water however.
There’s also not enough snails , unless they are dissolving too. )likely)

I've been dosing peroxide in my tank for over a yr at 1 ml per 10 gallons with no I'll effects at times when having a dino outbreak I've dosed that twice a day zoas close for a bit but that's the only down side I've experienced

The internet has been a blessing and a curse to the hobby. Lots of good and plenty of bad information out there to sift through. It can be overwhelming. I still reference my books all the time even after 30 years at this. The Modern Coral Reef Aquarium series, The Reef Aquarium series, they are worth their weight in salt.
