It looks cool, but I’m curious to see more about the user interface and programming examples. I’m very fluent in Apex programming, but I know it has many limitations, so I’ll be interested to see if this is more flexible.

I look forward to seeing if some of the power user type of programming from other controllers simplifies. Working with Abex and the price point should make it a marketing monster. I might be misunderstanding that it is a wifi mesh and if that is the case, that concerns me a little bit.

I would love to see the Leak detector Rope and it’s connector. I’m assuming it’s two separate conductors that once saltwater soaks into the cord it sets off the alarm? If yes, lets say I fix the leak or wipe up the spill how long does it take for the cord to stop reporting the error?

I am very interested in these controllers. I seen them at MACNA. I got to talk to one of the guys for a few minutes. I defiantly plan on trying one of these out. They don't have a computer interface at this time. Only android and iOS platforms.There is no salinity port at this time. I like the 0-10v inputs. I will be curious to see how those can be used.

HYDROS is not really a WiFi mesh, but I think your concern is that it relies on WiFi to run. Unfortunately I am limited by what I can talk about publicly at this time since we're still determining what features and functionality will be included. We got a lot of great feedback at the show, so we are processing it now and trying to determine the best course of action in terms of what we will incorporate before launch to make people happy.

You are correct. The rope leak detector is two separate conductors however the core of the rope is plastic and the exposed surface of the conductors is "conductive" plastic. Thus as soon as the moisture is gone, the alarm stops. There is nothing that the water can or needs to soak into, it is all done by surface tension on the edge of the plastic.

Say for example the brain is at the tank, but one set of outlets it controls is in the basement or through poor planning by me... on opposite ends of the sump below the water level.

It looks like you can still use buss cables between the controllers if you want.

Yes, if you are linking to a second controller, you can use the CANBus cable for a more reliable connection. In terms of the WiFi power strips, the controller queries the power strip twice per minute and if the controller gets no response, it will notify you immediately.

We completely understand and we use a highly-monitored connection. The Control queries the WiFi powerstrip twice a second asking for status. If the Control does not get a response from the power strip, then you are notified immediately.

Probably not on the same level as Toyota's MR2 marketing blooper in France but I thought I'd mention it, so you can chastise your marketing folks accordingly :D

I started doubting whether a funny animated gif was sufficient enough of a response, so I thought I'd at least explain the origin of the name.

In Greek mythology, HYDROS (pronounced hai·drowz) was the primordial god of the waters and one of the firstborn gods of the cosmos.

There are pictures online of HYDROS statues and similar artwork, but I think these illustrations where he looks like a Viking Aquaman with a serpentine tail...

... or an undersea Spartan warrior with shell armor are cooler!

Well, tbf the competition did already - Neptune and name of the his weapon too, Trident. Though I didnot know about the origin of the name Hydros, that's pretty cool. I wish anyone would adopt other mythology legends like Norse, egyptian etc. "Ra" would be a good name for lights as he was the God of Sun.

It's too early to say for certain if they'll be any extra incentives for being an earlier adopter, but as a marketing person, I certainly like the approach of rewarding folks for taking a chance on something new. I will suggest it to the team! I already have some ideas in mind. ;Bookworm
