Im sure this has been asking a million times here. Can you guys save me the time searching and let me know what's overall better? I found an amazinf deal on a hydros launch today thats part of a package deal that makes it seem super worth it. How ever my buddy owns both and hes kind of making me want to go apex new after seeing how dang cheap a a3 pro system is. Can some one sway me one way over the other?

They both good and I had both. Personally, I like Hydros better because each one is a brain. If one module don't function your system will still work unlike Apex. Apex only has one brain and add on modules. Apex also looks cheap. I like GHL though the best. My opinion:

GHL best hardware programming a little weird.
Apex cheap looking programming easiest out of the 3 even know hydros is easy. They modules only one brain!
Hydros uses a collective system which each unit you buy is its own brain why its more expensive.

You can't go wrong with either. I also like the fact GHL uses expansion cards and just looks more professional without all the modules. GHL more compact; Apex depends on your needs can have several modules; Hydros the same

I’m m new to Hydros and love it. I have the Launch coupled to the wave engine lite. Loads of connected sensors and devices. Well thought out, very flexible and powerful configuration capabilities, and built solid. Never used anything else so I’m a bit biased.

We really shouldn't, no. For no other reason than our personal bias will get in the way. Even if we try to remain neutral it comes across one way or the other.

As I read your post, highlight in bold, you found a deal that made it seem super worth it. If it meets your goals, needs, then you have your answer.

Save best for statistics and sports.

I like the apex because I can test parameters automatically, however I am waiting for the hydros maven, but they keep pushing back the release. Hoping this is the year of release

i have a ghl and not a super experienced reefer, i honestly dont use the controller all that much, sure they come with probes like ph and temp and stuff, i got the kh director on it too and cant say i trust it as much as the results i get from my hanna checkers, its a piece that requires more maintence and calibrations than might be worth, although i do use it for an ato that pulls from my basement which is prob 8-10 vertical with ~30' horizontal distance. and i hope to add auto water change with the system eventually, so it definitely has more hype and marketing imo than what it really adds, just my opinion

"Let me know whats overall better"

Its not that easy, and never is. They can both do basically the same things and are roughly equal in cost.

For me, I dont like the company that owns apex. They are a huge player in the reefing market, and because they are a big company thats successfully marketed themselves as the best they can rest on their laurels and dont have to fix the problems with their current equipment and offerings. Aperture pet and life was created by a big investment firm and it shows.

Hydros on the other hand is owned by coralvue, which is still owned by the original founders of the company who still runs the company.

Ill pick a family run business over an investment firm any day.

Had Apex for years. Switched to Hydros for my new build. Apex was always having one strange problem after another and those usb connections have been problematic for me. Also looks super cheap these days. I love the look of the hydros system and have my parts collected but have not set everything up yet. Definitely looks better though. Sorry not much of a review as I have not actually setup yet.
