What's everyone's experience with the Wave Engine? I understand it makes everything more centralized which in my mind is more of a convenience rather than something that helps the tanks health.

Also is there any functions that help the synchronization of flow? I'm struggling with flow with a Jebao Gyre creating an undertow current

I don't think it works with any Jebao pumps for direct connect so that might be an issue. I have a version 1 and I'm running two OctoPulse 2's and plan to add the Icecap 2k gyres and another set of OctoPulses as I also have a wave engine light.

So far no issues with the OctoPulse pumps and I like the numerous preset flown patterns.

Right I'm just looking to make a switch from what I'm running now because my gyre is too much for my system

I haven't used the Icecap gyres but I am guessing it will be just as easy and stream less as the OctoPulse pumps. I am a fan of getting a larger pump and running it on a lower setting so the pump isn't too stressed. The OctoPulse 2's put out way too much flow at full throttle for my 35 cube but I am running them around 40-50% and it's perfect.

Wave engine is a good add on to the hydro system, but you do lose a lot of functionality you had with the manufactures controllers for wave makers.

Most of the modes on the WE don't have much control nor do you know what the actual pattern/mode is doing and coralvue won't tell us what they are (because apparently they don't want other companies to know their proprietary patterns 🤣🤣🤣 ). This means you can't set dwell or ramp up times, just total cycle duration time and total % of flow, and any pumps working together cannot be set separately for different schedule's. So if you want a couple of pumps to work together then you will probably be better off in most cases sticking with the controller made for the pump, if you don't care about them working together to create standing waves etc, then you might better off with hydros as long as you don't count the price of the controller.

On 1 tank I run a couple of WE's for the wavemakers as the tank just runs toilet bow flow one way then the other, so hydros can manage that well enough with 6 wave makers on back wall. But in the other tanks the wave pumps are in different locations from end to end and front to back, so the Hydros simply doesn't work since you can't adjust dwell or ramp times. As there is nothing you can do to adjust the individual pump outputs to make the wavemakers actually work together when grouped/synced, the WE's bought for these tanks were re-tasked and are only used now to run the return and skimmer pumps.
