Hey all.
Don’t know whether to leave it or not.
Depending on what type of algae it is I don’t want it to use trace elements.
It’s soft and springy.
Maybe a type of codium?

Looks sponge to me. A photo under 12k or daylight would recieve a better ID

A photo under water would help. I'm thinking derbesia turf algae based on the texture, but I'm not sure.

It is weird.
I just looked at a tiny piece under a microscope and it’s got thin worms and see through odd disk things living in it.

Looks like bubble algae, i have had the larger bubble alage(typical and recognisble) i have had this also, it grows like a mat. Pity as i have just removed a mat of this forming on a frag rack. It will scrape off like a mat. As it is on your return you have a simple removal. turn off return and unscrew your return from the wier. soak in citric acid or white vinegar for an hour and clean, rinse with RO.
Your system will be aboslutley fine with no return for that period.
