I’ve got a weird question about gonis.

I’ve got 2 gonis that are right next to each other. Both have encrusted onto the rock. What’s gonna happen when they encrust into each other? Do gonis merge? Or is it more likely that one will just engulf and grow over the other?

Both have been in the tank for nearly 2 years.

Both have been in the tank for nearly 2 years.
They may find peace but one will eventually become more dominant and may hide the other.
I’ve never personally had Gonis next to each other long enough to find out as I will always have something change and one just hates it in the spot even if they’re the same species.
Usually its flow or light that becomes the issue.

I've got 4 goni's together on one side of my 40 breeder..... they retract from each other, they don't like to touch each other at all.

I've also once had an evil red goni kill 2 others before I removed it.

Some gonis will happily grow up against each other, others will fight and the dominant one kill then overgrow the other. If you start seeing acrospheres at the tips of the tentacles, you should separate them in my experience, as this is usually followed by the loser retracting then getting burned and regressing or dying.
