Started a new Red Sea Reefer 200XL after being out of the hobby for 10 years. Did it the right way this time understood and learned so much from all the hundreds of BRS YouTube videos. Also so much from reading information on this site and others. Real first name is Erick and I live near Dallas TX Well into my tank build. Would love to share some pics.

So last night I received some Brighwell Kalkwasser. Already had purchased an inexpensive dosed a while back. My PH has stayed in the 7.9-8.0 range and I would like 8.2-8.4. Range. Connected 2 lines as my doser has a max of 24 doses. So dosing every 30 minutes 4 ml. 44 times a day. Initial. Reading this morning after Algae Reactor went of was 8.1

Hi Erick and Welcome!

I'm Lisa and south of you in Grand Prairie. DFWMAS is our local club site; very active in selling/trading/buying used equipment and/or fish and/or frags. Monday after next on 5/17 is another DFWMAS guest zoom speaker, if you decide to become a member (you don't have to be member to buy anything). Most active people in DFWMAS seem north around where you are, but they are from all around metroplex

Your info about your tank is great, and would be perfect way to start your build thread for you tank. I didn't start mine until I joined here, but I've been going back and documenting things so I have a place for myself where I have all my tank history. They give you a badge for it, too (see left, under my ID name)

Would love to join. Heard about the local club a while back.

Welcome! Tank looks great.
Thank you. Tank is maturing at a good rate. Lots of microfauna amphipods and tons of copepods. Starting to see Calcerous algae pop up just really had the tank running 2.5 months after 2 week cycle. The Algae Reactor has really been useful.

Huge stores within 10 minutes of me here in Carrollton. Dallas North Aquarium and one in Coppell Can’t remember name.
I go up the toll road to Dallas North Aquarium (more frequently than I should admit) as they've got one of the largest dry good selections in the area. They also have some live foods if ever you have picky eaters. They don't seem to advertise their live foods very well, but you can ask someone in the store (or call - its how I found black worms local... after I already ordered California black worms from Pennsylvania distributor (DUH!))

If you have corals, get good on your QT/dip procedures because ALL our local fish stores seem to have one thing or another going on at any given time no matter how hard they try to clear up and/or control whatever... and a few little LFSs I've run across don't even try to keep it controlled.

BRS has great dip video; I'm expanding my dip process for all three types of dip (hydrogen peroxide, an iodine based, a natural based) and need to get Bayer for 4th type (insecticide) which isn't in BRS video just so I'm sure to keep my tank clean now that I've gotten it cleaned up of worms and nuisance algae (aiptasia is around too, but I've gotten lucky there - just 1 so tossed plug and rock where it was found. Got Frank's F-Aiptasia (he's Fort Worth based, small but AWESOME people & known for special ordering anything) but the product has gone international so likely easier to just mailorder than drive over there (but you can see the original non-family friendly F-Aiptasia product label if you ever go into store and know where to look <wink>)).

Yeah I bought my baby Hippo Tang. At the copper store. Paid for him watched him eat. Left at store another week. Should have waited longer because after having him a week I realized he had black ich. Kept eating but a week later kept getting a few more spots and also my typically aggressive eating clownfish was not as addreivd during feed time. Could not wait anymore. Had to kill these annoying flatworms. I’m setting up a coral tank that I will also observe fish in but it is not set up yet so I just used PraxiPro in my tank. Used less than directed amount at first. Did not resolve much so after a large water change and a larger and more therapeutic dose it cleared up. 3 weeks later no flat forms on clown or tang. My 6-line was eating them so he might not be as happy but I was. The wrasse has moved on to sucking up copepods all day everyday between feedings.

The PraxiPro did not cause the SPS to act different but I think my frog spawn did not like it much. My wrasse certainly did not like cause he was switching strangely for about 30 mins.

Don’t worry, you’ll pass the amount she is ok with soon enough! Lol
I think i have. Mostly she does not love the noise and how much the tank and my small product table take up
