I just bought the stonefish that Live Aquaria put up for sale on Diver's Den. They have been incredibly hard to find in the US, so despite LA's declining reputation I have taken the gamble. He arrives on Friday, along with a totally separate order of other fish.
I will update this thread once the beast arrives! Wish me luck.

Wow! That is exciting! We look forward to pictures and updates on the process!

He's settling in nicely! Got him to eat a silverside head shortly after introduction. The stonefish bite is significantly faster than the frogfish bite, I've noticed... Barely even saw him move.

Super cool! I would be afraid to get stung after almost dying from lionfish venom lol. How big is he?
Oh goodness, that's scary! Thankfully, the likelihood of getting stung by him accidentally is incredibly low... Stonefish don't present their spines like lions do, I've seen people pick them up and move them around completely safely. They're very dedicated to their rocky craft haha.
He's just under 5 inches long, the head is about 1.5 inches across. just a little guy.

How big will he get?? And what else is with him? Stonefish are so awesome!

Max size for stonefish is about 10"-1.2', he'll likely reach around 8-9 since he's a captive animal. He's currently alone, and though he would technically be fine to house with my frogfish, I like the idea of having him in a species-only tank. I'll get him little flocks of mollies from time to time for enrichment.

I'll send a picture in the morning! I'll be feeding him later next afternoon, so I intend to try and get a video of it.
That would be way cool

I saw him on Diver's Den too and was really tempted! Does he have any tankmates?
At the moment he's alone. I considered moving him in with my frogfish, but I really don't want to take any risks of accidental envenomation/consumption. I plan to get little flocks of mollies every so often for him to pick off for enrichment.

In love frog fish but dang are they stupid!!! Eat everything regardless of size and venom!

Wow this is awesome. Feeding videos on YouTube please so we can all see them
