I have a wheelers shrimp goby in my 25g. I bought it with supposedly a bonded tiger pistol shrimp. Put them in the tank and they both went their separate ways and after 2 days never saw any sign of the shrimp. It’s been a little over 5 weeks now so I’m assuming the worst. Thinking of getting another one for him because I recently put in a tail spot blenny and now he seems very apprehensive to come out. But I’ve been reading how destructive they can be. I guess the Randall’s pistol shrimp is not as destructive as the tiger. I plan on putting some corals on my sand bed but have been reading how sometimes they would bury them. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences with them. Thanks for the help

Go with the smaller. My tiger was like Cool Hand Luke's punishment in prison. Someone's dirt was always in his hole and needed moving. Plus while he didn't kill snails for sport or food he loved decorating the hole with them and would jam them under the rocks. He could be still alive and hiding.

The small ones can disappear, too. After the YWG and Tiger pair died got a Randalls with a Red Banded Shrimp. The goby died and never didn't see the shrimp for weeks/months. Then one day - oh there it is.

Fun to watch though. That pairing really makes the tank for me and wife and I both miss it. Maybe next tank.

Were you referring to a Randall’s goby and a red banded shrimp is that the same as a Randall’s pistol shrimp

I was trying to find something in my build thread or my orders with LiveAquaria. Probably died too soon to update. I think it was actually a Wheeler's Shrimp Goby with the Red Banded Shrimp. Same size-ish.

I have had one for 4 years. Never see it. Just hear it and see the digging the next day. Not really worth it imo

I just recently add a ywg and a pistol shrimp. They both were so tiny specially the shrimp have no color. They both went their own way. After a week or so I saw the shrimp he in the same cave with the ywg

It’s a little late, but it is likely still alive. I made a guess on where my pistol shrimp is (I got it on march 8th and haven’t seen it since) but the hole that leads under my rock always has a different arrangement of sand, sometimes it just takes a while for them to like the tank
