So I of something different and I made a pyramid out of my new dry Marco rock… I cut it into 2”x 4” squares and I made a pyramid that is 16 x 16 and 10 inches high. There’s a ton of weight behind this did I screw up when I covered the outside the e macro reef rock mortar. On the other side to give it a nice smooth look I did not even think at the time I was doing it that maybe the water had to run through all of the holes on the outside to actually filter or will I get some kind of filtration out of this? I do know that there will be bacteria on the inside, but have I taken a big chunk of the actual filtration part away, does anybody know this thank you? ?

If you plugged holes, you decreased area for bacteria to live in . So yes you did decrease filtration area.
