Asterina starfish. Most say safe but populations can grow quite large. I found several eating on my zoas so I bought a harlequin shrimp to get rid of them since they really don't serve a purpose for me.

I know they're supposedly harmless, but i'll take 'em out when I can just to keep the population down.

I also did the harlequin shrimp approach and that was awesome. Within about an hour of the shrimp going in the tank (200g) a billion stars starting to run for the hills...up the glass.

But after a few weeks I had to take the shrimp out because I wasn't quite emotionally ready to start chopping up store-bought stars.

I did notice more on the glass than usual. I knocked them off the glass so the shrimp wouldn't have to work so hard for his dinner. When the asterinas are all gone I'll have to make the hard decision to feed him cc starfish or rehome him.

Ya its weird I dont have a large population. See the odd one on the glass here and there and then this morning the monster lol. My first thought was a big Asterina starfish but then I was like naaaa there is no way they get that big.

looks like Asterina starfish. Me personally some people like them and some people don’t I choose not to have them in my displayed because they will consume Coraline algae.
