Thanks! I used the "2x dither" option in Deep Sky Stacker to effectively double the resolution, together with color luminance noise reduction in Adobe Bridge, which I think are the things that contributed to what you are perceiving. The final image was a whopping 94 megapixels, although I had to reduce it down to around 3 megapixels to get it small enough for the forum software to accept it.
It depends on exactly how much light pollution you are dealing with, but, fundamentally, the answer is going to be, "YES". The main issue you will have with more light pollution is how much skyglow you have to fight to try to pull out the faintest details around the edges. I've been dabbling in astrophotography for over 10 years now, and these results are a combination of the gear, plus experience in how to use it, plus good post-processing software, plus patience.
This LXD-75 mount has had the "Warp's Belt Drive Modification" done to it. Plus, it didn't hurt that it was absolutely, profoundly windless that night. Incredibly still air.
