Hi Everyone,

I am really struggling with my tank. My tank is now overrun with Aiptasia and Vermetid Snails. I have tried Aiptasia-X, manual removal, and other remedies. What is going to be the best coarse of action at this point? Any help is EXTREMELY appreciated.

Any predator fish in the tank? Berghia nudibranches did good for me.

I had a Tasseled Filefish that ate my Aiptasia but then they grew back once I rehomed him.

Peppermint Shrimp do good but can also turn to coral predation.

Bumblebee Snails are good for Vermetid snails and you can try Coral Snow as well.

I have a Yellow Coris and a Melanurus in the tank so unfortunately that's why I am so limited.....

I did do a round of bumblebee snails, but I didn't notice a difference...maybe I needed more in the tank.

Get yourself a Kleini butterfly who will quickly eat these like candy 100% gone, but you may want to rehome it once its done or place in the sump as you may have aptasia down there.
For vermetids, add 2-3 bumblebee snails which are slow but effective. OR you can place gel superglue over the vermetid tubes.

I'm not sure a Klein's in a 40 gallon tank is a good idea?

Yeah, Halichoeres wrasses and Berghia don't always mix too well. I had a Melanurus and a Leucoxanthus in my 135 and the Berghia bred and populated but when I moved down to a 70, the Berghia didn't last long. In a 40, I doubt they'd work too well together.

I'm not sure a Klein's in a 40 gallon tank is a good idea?

Mine started in a 32g biocube and cleaned up aptasia (average LFS size is 2.5") and had one also in a 45 cube

In my 70, I have 2 Bumblebee Snails. It took a bit for the difference to be noticable but they do make progress over time.

I dropped in about 10 of them over 4 months ago. It looks like their dead at this point so I may have to restock.

I've put over 20 (probably closer to 30) bumblebee's in my 120 over the last few months. I didn't think they were doing anything, but I have noticed a lot fewer vermetids in last last months or so.

A CBB finally got rid of my aiptasia.

I dropped in about 10 of them over 4 months ago. It looks like their dead at this point so I may have to restock.

Try adding them after dark when the wrasses are asleep. My bumblebees are nocturnal hunters and tens to hide in crevices in the rock during the day when the wrasses are out and about hunting.

CBB , hit and miss. Mine didnt even look at them, and made me go onto a kleini who mowed them down

It's been a struggle.

I had a filefish that wiped out all the aiptasia in a few days, but then killed a frog spawn. Aiptasia started coming back a day a day after I rehomed it.

I got a kelini after that, but it died in QT.

Then a molly miller, but it didn't do anything to the pests.

Then I moved onto berghia and did about $300 worth of those, but ended up with a nice looking CBB in my LFS at the same time, so I went nuclear. The berghia may have actually done the work, but the real advance on aiptasia seemed to happen after I got the CBB out of QT.

Now I suspect the CBB of nipping at one of my clams, so it has been back in my QT for the last week.
