Best of luck and wish you speedy recovery.
I had a stent as well at age 51 .

I recommend that you Read the following book :
The Spectrum by Dean Ornish.
I lost 35 lbs in a very short time and cholesterol disappeared
Make some serious changes it pays off.
( Incidently, I am also an MD and finally practising what I preach!)

So sorry for what life is throwing at you. Prayers and positive vibes your way! I certainly can relate to the difficulties of smoking cessation as I myself have had several dozen fails before successfully quitting after 20+ years. It really does involve a lifestyle change and it is hard, but you can absolutely do it. You've got lots of people here rooting for you! :):D Be well! One day at a time :)

My wonderful and very much Loved sister wrote on facebook, "Just wanted to let family and friends know my brother, Kevin Gilmore suffered a heart attack last night. He is in CCU at St. Elizabeth's hospital in Lincoln and had 3 stents put in. He is in stable condition and doing well. I am going to see him later this afternoon. Say a prayer for him" (thanks sis)

I had a heart attack on Wed, but I'm home and resting comfortable, well, resting anyway. Lol,..... I have diabeties, smoke, 54 yrs old and have a food belly, which is not, a good combination, but,...that'll be changing starting yesterday !

It was very,.....difficult to know that I was having a heart attack as my acid reflux diease has about the same side affects, even neck, shoulder, chest and arm pain.

Those who know me, I've had a brain injury since age two and have a headache, migrain amount pain, and worse, "zaps" in my head that feel like the bug zappers (zzzz,ap, zap...) we use in our back yards, 24/7. I'm used to pain with a high threshhold, so I'm going to a class at the Nebrasks Heart Hospital next week to learn how to dissifer the differences in case this happens again.

When I turned age 50 and had great insurrance (unlike now) I went through all the battery of heart tests and was found in good heart health, so finding out that one artery was blocked 99%, second 98%, third 60% and fourth 30%.

The Doctor said I was very lucky and was smart to go to the hospital, as a lot of men don't and pay the price. Doing so, kept my bottom heart from major damage.

Until speaking with the heart surgen today, we did not know that stress alone, like my constant pain, can increase the chances of heart attacks by a large percentage.

One of my best friends gave me a gift card for the E-Cigarettes, that helped him quit smoking. Thanks Chad !

Smoking since age 16, this will be very difficult, but with all of your support, I will Conquer this addiction !

I want to thank all my family, great friends and even total strangers for visiting me at the hospital, phone calls, email's, social media, and here on R2R for your support, Love, thoughts and prayers !
Kevin
Hope all goes well for you.i quit about ten years ago. The patch helped me alto.

Best wishes! Could never wish this upon anyone. :(

I started smoking when I was 15. After 17 years of smoking cigs, I switched to e-cigs. I smoked an e-cig for 6 months. I started with 18% nic and worked myself down to 0% and was able to quit without withdraws. I've been smoke free for over 3 years now. I think e-cigs can be the perfect alt to the patch or gum.

God Bless you Brother! Quitting smoking is a daily chore. I did not smoke for nearly as long but it is a daily thought for me. Message me anytime if you need to talk about it, need a distraction, or just want to vent (about smoking, health, or your reef tank!) Be well! Stay strong and be of good courage. Hard tasks offer the best rewards.

Best of wishes! At 62 yrs old after smoking 45 yrs. my mom dropped em and never picked them up again . It wasn't easy but she did it. :) Positive thoughts coming your way.

Man so sorry to read this! I am happy that you made it! Man I am praying for you!

You can do it. Dropping life long habits is very hard but there are a lot of people who have been in your same boat and are living proof you can do it. Take one step at a time and you will be a better road.:)

I also am tyring thee-cig/vap, after my best friend tried quiting on and off for 15 years. He used the vap for 3 months and has been cig & vap free for 7 months now.

I got my $26.00 vap the day after I left the hosital, with the nicotine at #24, but when I told my family Doctor how proud I am with no cigerate's for a week, he wanted me to quit cold turky, as it's the nicotine that's hard on the heart and arteries. So, I went down to #10 a few days ago.

I'm feeling pretty good about it so far !

Thanks for your stories and prayers !

A smoker for 40yrs, in April my 55yr old sister was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, given less than a year to live. By June she had to stop working. By September they were flying her to another hospital where they preformed open heart surgery to replace her Aortic Valve.
She's recovering wonderfully! Smoke free since the first day of her diagnosis.
We've lost our mother to lung disease, our father to heart disease and 2 sisters to cancer. All smokers!
I quit smoking 15yrs ago out of pure fear. I'm hear sharing that YOU CAN TOO!! [emoji8][emoji7]

Good Wishes on your recovery, My husband had triple bypass, doc called it the widow maker. He had no rehab, couldn't wait to get going. Like you, he thought it was indigestion. He's never smoked. It's me, I guess my fellow reefers on r2r have many things in common. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
