I have this goniopora and it has always remained contracted. My pH is a little low, 7.9. All the other corals are perfect. I have a little low nitrite, but the other parameters are within their range. Do you think it could be the water flow? Or maybe the pH?

We would need pictures and parameters to offer any help. Very much doubt its the ph, ph of 7.9 is just fine.

Suggestions for goni's are all over the map, but for what its worth I have mine on the sand under bright lights and heavy flow and they do well.

Agreed with @Mr. Mojo Rising here.

will need all the major parameters listed, even if they are "within their range"
pH is fine, as long as the other parameters are fine.

With gonis I think it is easier to not mess up with lower flow and lower light so that is something you can try in the mean time, but like @Mr. Mojo Rising said, they can do well in high light/flow set ups too.

will be nice to see what tank inhabitants you have, and what its neighbor corals are as well

Low Ca and Mg lead me to question salinity. What is your salinity? How are you measuring and calibrating.
Low nutrients could be an issue. The low Ca and Mg could also be.

Some reefers do well with low nutrients but they may get their nutrition by other means in some circumstances such as heavy fish load and feeding. I am guessing you mean 12ppm NO3? On the low side but not terrible. So I am going to rule out nutrients for now.

What is the par like? Looks like the polyps lower down towards the bottom are in worse shape so possibly not enough light
