I have a a 37 gallon Visio aquarium that I DIY'd into an AIO. It's footprint is 36" x 15.5". I've currently got it on one of those wire shelving units from Home Depot but would like to find something that actually fits the tank and doesn't look terrible. I'm considering getting one of those metal 40 breeder stands from Petco and adding a piece of plywood on the top because my tank is slightly smaller than the 36.5" x 18.5" dimension of the stand. I would also have to paint the plywood and probably add a small strip of trim to cover the edge of the plywood. I like it because it's cheap and has the leveling feet which is an important feature for me due to a hardwood floor that is not perfectly flat.

Anyone have a better idea? Critiques of my plan with the Petco stand?

Could you just build your own stand?
That was what I was originally planning on doing but I have little free time now. I also just moved from a 5br house to a 2br house so space is at a premium now. I just don't have the space free in the garage to start a project now. I suppose I could just live with the ugly wire rack for now till I get the garage better organized.

It's too bad they did not make the top horizontal on TOP of the vertical posts, it would be much stronger.

As it is, it's relying on what looks like screws which will probably eventually fail, especially if SW and it begins to rust.

Maybe temporary at best, and I'd for sure use 3/4" ply spanning the entire perimeter.
