After spending all night in the ER with my husband who has terminal cancer I came home to find that my skimmer had covered the inside of my cabinet with foam .I haven't changed or adjusted anything lately but was unable to adjust it as usual, so I turned it off. The aquarium has been neglected some what. Everything else seems to be running all right Of course my priority is my husband of 62 years but if I have a minute what should I do?

LIkely the tank will be ok without the skimmer running for a while. Let us know what make model, or post a photo. Each skimmer has different needs and adjustments.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Wishing the best to you and your husband, and your tank 🙂

If there is foam everywhere, check to make sure the skimmer has its lid installed, which covers the top of the skimmer, and , keeps foam from overflowing out the top.

Another option is to try growing an attractive macroalgae in the display. Macroalgae use a lot of the nutrients that skimmers remove. Codium is a nice non-invasive specie. You want to avoid invasive macros as they will create a worse problem of taking over your aquarium. Macros also need more white light so if your aquarium is very blue, macroalgae may not flourish.

Im sorry, but that number is not getting search hits.
Is there a number resembling 150 INT?

On the instrution there are the numbers classic 110 int, classic 150 int, classic 200 int, I don't know which it is. Do skimmers need to be replaced every so often?

It seems the adjustment knob makes no difference. Do those have to be replaced after so many years?

They should last for years. Many reefers struggle to tune their skimmer, you are not alone. I would unplug it and concentrate on other things.
However...
We can assume some things like correct water height and previous operation. Adding things to the water can cause a skimmer to overflow.
Any adjustment to the knob takes some time, minutes or hours to take effect.

I appreciate everyone trying to help. This skimmer was purchased in 2018 and took a while to break in. Sometimes after a water change I would have to adjust it for a while. Now, it overflows no matter the adjustment and nothing has changed. No water change. no grandkids around, no change in food. That's why I was wondering if the adjustment knob needs replacing. Thanks again.

Post a picture.

Based on your description, it sounds like it is the 110. But I'd need to see it.

I can't offer any help with the skimmer problem, but we will say a prayer for you and your husband.

I truly appreciate every ones help and prayers. I just don't have to figure out the problem right now, so I ordered the same model from Amazon. They can only send me to debtors prison once I hear. Thanks everyone.
