I have an Ice Cap 430 powering 2 T5s. Recently it seems that fixture is a hit or miss on powering on. I checked the fuse. Changed the bulbs and still nothing. Some days it is on others not. This has been an issue for maybe a month and the no power seems more frequent. Is this a sign of ballast failure or am I overlooking something else. How long do these ballast last.

you might contact coralvue, the maker of the 660 icecap ballast works for them now and they said on there website that they are doign icecap warranty repairs.

Sounds like a bad connection to me. My 660 is over 15 years old and fires up every time. I would check the connections in wiring and make sure the pins on the bulbs are in correctly and free of corrosion.

I have some that are equally as old that still work great. But ever once in a few years I do have the same problem as the OP.
I do as VegasRick suggested and even pull the wires out of the endcaps and clip off a 1" or so of wire and reinstall. Always fires back up.

My is nowhere near that age and ice cap is a good brand. I guess I will check all the connections with the humidity that seems possible. But what a nightmare it is all under a canopy.

Good luck with it, sucks you are having problems and his is lasting 15 years, if you can't fix it I would contact icecap for warranty

IceCap is no more. Contact Coralvue

can you even get intermittent firing from an electronic ballast? Ive had the ends of the wires get really brown and corroded and a trim and scrape works wonders
