Ice water calibration

Has any one ever used ice water to accurately check a temp probe my ink bird and neo therm are having an argument I need to trust one them BRS support suggested buying a40 dollar thermometer to pair with my 70 dollar heater and 35 dollar temp control

You could. But you re really only interested in know what the measurement error is at 80F, which the 0 C measurement won’t give you.

How much of an error are you seeing?

Yes I have, all you do is fill a container with ice, then add only as much cold water so the probe is covered.

How much of an error are you seeing?
My heater says 80 the temp probe is saying 77-78
