I have the 36XL and love it. Definitely a great sump. Especially at the price point.
Awesome ! I have been eyeing the 48xl for a while now and the boss is finally going to let me pull the trigger lol so I just wanted some opinions

Now there is one caveat... When I got mine, very early in production, it only had a 1" inlet for the drain. I mentioned this to the guys at IceCap/CoralVue at RAP about a year ago, and have since been told they changed to a larger drain. Can't confirm or deny this however.
When planning your plumbing, take a notice of the drain inlet in the sump. What I did for mine was to drill a larger bulkhead into the sump to accommodate my 1 1/2" drain on my tank.. really not a big deal, but just a heads up.

I also have the 36XL... The adhesive is weak. The leak potential is significant.
This is the first I heard of this and I have been researching this sump and reading on it for a while

think maybe it's because people are not putting foam board underneath it cause it to weaken the seam and make it leak ?

nope. mine was coming apart under one of the top seems. I tried to get other reviews for you but it looks like they were deleted. The biggest issue I have with these sumps is the Icecap only filter socks that are garbage. their 4' is 3.9" so standard 4 inch socks don't fit unless you get flat top style and cut them down.

Are the socks expensive?

I had their smallest wired into a biocube. I really loved it. Made real well, and easiy to modify.
