Ich on CBB?

Hey all looking for some validation. My CBB has been in QT for 21 days now. QT has been held at a minimum copper concentration of 2.30 (copper safe). I’ve tested the copper weekly it’s usually been between 2.5 -2.7 but dropped a bit this past week. But 2.3 should still be therapeutic.

Long story short I leave for vacation tomorrow and was considering cutting QT early. I didn’t love leaving the ccb in copper unattended. I’ll have a tank/house sitter but still.

While inspecting him yesterday I noticed a couple small spots on his tail and thought maybe lympho. But today I see more on the body. It just seems odd to me that ich would start presenting so late into copper treatment? He’s been super healthy otherwise. Eats very very well and has shown no signs or symptoms of issues until yesterday. I’m 99% sure it’s ich just looking for some input from wiser folks. Apologies in advance no white photos the little qt light doesn’t have a whites only channel.

Also worth noting the few spots look raised above the scales not imbedded.

If you had him in Copper for 21 days it's not Ich. I do see Rock and Sand in your Tank which can cause problems maintaining the proper level. How often were you Testing? Did you add any other Fish during the QT period?

No other fish. Rock a sand has been in there since starting up the QT maybe 4 months ago.

I tested more frequently early on because I was concerned about absorption via rock/sand but I found that the day to day and even week to week loss of copper was negligible. So during an active QT I test weekly. Lowest reading I’ve had with this CBB was 2.30 yesterday. It’s been 2.55 and 2.68 weeks 1 and 2.

I know CBBs are prone to lympho it just seems too small to be lympho but I’m no expert.

Can you post couple of pics broadside? Not likely Ich and Lympho usually appears on the Fin edges and also Tail plus sometimes the snout. Could be irritation from Flukes. Fish does look in good condition.

You can see one of the spots on his middle stripe. They’re just really small. He’s not demonstrated any symptoms of flukes but doesn’t mean they’re not there.

Unlikely to be ich. But lymphocystis is usually on the trailing edges of fins.

Unfortunately the Amazon light on the QT doesn’t have a whites only channel. The best I can do is try to white adjust the photo once taken.

I can see those couple of spots also. I can't rule them out as being ich or not. When ich first starts up, you'll see a few spots come and go every day or two. Then, the spots will become more numerous and begin to stay on the fish longer (as their reproductive cycles become out of sync).

I'd just continue to watch the fish closely for now....

The size and location suggests ich to me. It just seems unusual that spots would first show up 20 days into therapeutic copper.

Following along, as I plan to add a copperband to QT in the next 6 months or so. I'm glad to see he's done well in QT so far.

You said he's eating very well; what has been your strategy?

I think it looks great

Copperbands - in my experience - are very resistant to ich. Last year when I had a 6 week long outbreak that I finally had to go fallow to treat, the Copperband was the most resilient fish that never showed any symptoms nor was it ever bothered when it went into Copper - unlike my Clowns, tangs, etc.

Just lost my copperband in QT cause flukes I switched from copper to prazipro but it was too late wasn’t eating. I checked ammonia and had to do water changes I think the stress of that didn’t help the eye area started looking red then he died I’m so sad.

What makes you say it’s from flukes?

CBBs are notoriously hard to acclimate
