From what I've read there is a free swimming stage you could catch at a bad time. How much water is it? Setting up a new tank would be great time to get rid of it forever!

Just thinking out loud through it all. You have to choose if you want to irradicate the ich or manage it. If you plan on qting and keeping it out its one bucket of salt for piece of mind. If you dont plan on doing that ich will get in there anyway, so reuse the water.

If you're transferring the fish without quarantining then ich will move along anyway.

You should take the opportunity to start over and do a good quarantine. Trust me you really can put your fish through a lot and keep them much longer with much more success if you quarantine. I've done it both ways.
