Ich?

Hey everyone. Last night my Hippo tang had these spots, and from all I’ve read it’s ich. This morning they are all gone. They weren’t there yesterday morning either. None of my other fish have spots. Seems too fast for the parasites lifecycle to appear and drop off within 24hrs. I have a sand bed that’s ganules are round and appear to be the same size as the spots. He does like to wedge himself between some rocks on the sand bed during the day. At night he rests in the upper rock work. Before I go into a quarantine routine, I’m hoping for some feedback. These are mucus cones and you will notice others show no signs of. These fish respond well to 30 days of copper safe at 2.25ppm monitored with Hanna brand copper test kit. Often this starts with a skin irritation

It seems the pathogen is in your DT. I would suggest you navigate over to Humble Fish and read over the H2O2 protocol as a means of possible treatment (despite what some of the dogmatic one trick pony types would suggest here on R2R).

Thank you. That’s what I was gearing toward. From what I’ve read and seen elsewhere is that I need to do all fish. And can’t do it in my main tank due to corals. Your thoughts?

Separate tank and fish should do well

The main tank will need to remain fishless for 30-50 days as well to starve-out marine ich. I prefer 50 days to be on the safer side, but the exact time depends on temperature and perhaps strain.

Yes - that's ich. The coming and going is diagnostic, part of their life cycle.

What if anything have you added lately? Usually something external is the Root Cause. It's good to know in the future. Many people do not realize that Ich can sneak in on Inverts and Coral Frags.
