I sent in an ICP test and it shows high Iodine. Says I may have coral loss.

I have a 200g system with lots of SPS lit by an ATI Hybrid Powermodule.

I lost my strawberry shortcake colony recently to RTN which prompted the test..

Everything else checks out. Thoughts on if I should leave it alone? Any experience with anyone on Iodine overdose causing TN?

I don’t think I’d worry. I dose iodine occasionally (I test first). Figure out where it’s coming from though. If you obsess over stuff like I do. Do a quick water change. But check the level listed on your salt bag first!

I have dosed lugols from time to time but never tested.. I don’t plan on dosing it again for a while.

I’d be more concerned with magnesium. Mine has been that high recently and I freaked out!

I’ve had it high before with no problems. I’m wondering if I did it wrong after I switched to the new BRS Pharma Mg Mix, but it was pre mixed... idk.

Leave it be. Don’t do any water changes for a while as it could be in your salt mix and let that number fall on its own. Sometimes the treatment is worse than the symptom.

Same here. Using pharma. As I understand their magnesium mix is more concentrated and you use proportionally less than calcium or buffer.

I have dosed lugols from time to time which is more than likely why it was high so as of now I’m not going to dose it anymore. I don’t do water changes so Salt Mix wouldn’t be the culprit

Iodine drops pretty fast in reef tank. Thinks like Marco algae and skimmer remove or as well as corals. You can either stop dosing or do as ICP recommends. Most likely a few water changes.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
