It's kind of amazing that almost every single cell algae that gets posted in the nuisance algae forum is something I could find in my sandbed at one time or another over a span of several years. You are way better Than ChatGPT. By the way, some of my algae cultures develop hoards of these too.
two things that can often be helpful. These are not usually toxic and would likely be grazed by copepods, so acquiring some copepods (algaebarn etc) might be useful in this case. They have been a problem to me, all of my coral are mad.
We can steal the saying from bacteriology: ”everything everywhere”. This means all species of bacteria can be found everywhere. Since we (the hobby) inoculate our systems with many sources of organisms at least a dozen times during the first year, we certainly are increasing the odds of everything being in our systems. It's kind of amazing that almost every single cell algae that gets posted in the nuisance algae forum is something I could find in my sandbed at one time or another over a span of several years.
Not sure how I got sand that contained samples of everything, but you've experienced similar.
over time, you've managed to grow most everything Identifiable on the forum in one culture or another. Together, maybe our experience suggests that the hobby nuisances are ubiquitous, and exist somewhere in most every system.
I am getting a UV, is it possible that there are other Dinos in my tank? They have already killed one of my fish….two things that can often be helpful. These are not usually toxic and would likely be grazed by copepods, so acquiring some copepods (algaebarn etc) might be useful in this case.
Also, if you have some algae in your system that is attaching on/near corals - it is usually attaching out of the water, and a strong UV in the display can wipe out outbreaks of those types that spend time in the water.
