ID needed

Couldn’t find this in my searches and am a novice in all that can enter closed reef sys. A couple in DT but more in sump. It’s about a 1/4” in size if that helps. Is this a concern?

Pineapple sponges (presumably Sycon spp.) don't overgrow corals and are good filter feeders. You will probably see a lot of them pop up over time (my entire filter sump is full of them). They are harmless and also quite interesting as most sponges.

Tend to dissipate over time so enjoy them while they are there.

Yeah thanks you all, now that I know they’re sponges, I had a ton of the worm looking sponges a while ago in the rocks and they all eventually just disappeared.

I do NOT claim to be an expert, but I've never seen a pineaple sponge that looked like that. They tend to be very small (1/2 inch in lenght max), prolate spheroid shaped with an opening in the center and yellow. I've had these in my tank for years, occasionally few and sometimes very numerous. . Nothing like the object in the pic, are we sure thats what it is?

I think the image is a super close up of a pineapple sponge, kind of like the frag images of fragments that people post.?

The ones where the tiny red polyps look like apples on a giant sequoia because the picture focus is so close.

After being suggested they are pineapple sponges I did a search here for “pineapple sponge” and the image I received is exactly like what I posted.
