Yeah, they happen. Most tanks get them. When they get to be in large numbers, look for a community Harlequin shrimp in your area to borrow for a few weeks. I also manually remove the ones I see. Some eat soft coral, some are harmless and act as clean up crew.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
