I have some zoa, but need a ID on the red thing - it is growing fast. Is it a type of Xenia? Should I keep it? Will it take over everything (all rock) in the tank?

Can you take a picture with out the supplemental light

So weird! No polyps at all?

I see one polyp. The rest I have no idea maybe Micro algae?

The tentacles close up at night. The 8 tentacles per arm are red but the parts that appear to be spreading appear white / translucent.

Looks like it grows like clove polyps when they send out the runner. I do see a polyp in the lower right of the first picture. I'm not sure.

I am 95% sure it's a type of Clavularia. Not sure which one.

Clove / Clavularia appears to be it. From what I read I should probably get it out of tank before it spreads everywhere. Thoughts?

Yes!

I would. Even if it ment losing the zoa under it.

I got rid of it -- saved a part of the zoa. Took a flame thrower to the live rock, rinsed with ro water and put back in tank. Thanks for the help.
