ID this coral please!

First of all, forgive me. I have NO CLUE whether this coral is SPS or LPS - so I'm crossposting ont he SPS forum too.

Wife's friend had a electrical issue with his tank, so we ended up with all of his livestock.
This was apparently epoxied to a piece of live rock - and it was sitting in a big bucket. ALMOST DRY.

I removed it from the live rock and put him in my tank. Apparently he's still alive!

Looks like an encrusting photosynthetic gorgonian

Could be green star polyps wrapped around the rock. Hard to tell.
