I had a boxers fracture in 2001, I was launched off a four wheeler and it was my face or my hand...Dislocated and fractured four bones in the same area. The pins are going to be the worst part for you...After two weeks they begin to push themselves out and you feel these giant needles pushing into your skin from the inside-out...After that, they will have to come out(the pins), which is also interesting...The make a small incision, then open these tiny stainless pliers which they use to pull them out...You will feel the pins slide through all of the bones in your hand, its weird!

I almost started to complain about it, until I looked at the other guy sitting next to me...He had crashed his snowmobile into a tree and shattered his thumb..It was broken in 14 places and looked like an eggplant....

I was happy NOT to be that guy!

You will heal, and hurt when it gets cold, it snows, or rains..Welcome to the club!

Just one question; which would have been cheaper? The tank or the surgery on your hand? I know, we don't think about things like that in the moment do we? :) Glad you're out of the hospital and doing better.

Oh I feel you, I have had 3 boxer fractures on the same hand (had to give up organized fighting). I had the first two casted, but said the hell with that on the third......well my pinky finger will not straighten out all the way, so good on you going to the hospital.

After a nap and some heavy duty meds, no longer cross eyed and I can actually read,

Yeah the boxers fracture sucks. I shattered the hell out of my right hand years ago. Broke all the way up into my wrist which had been broken before. It is still swollen and my pinky still hangs a little bit out to the right, but atleast It works and I have mobility. The pins really do stink. When they went to remove one it broke. I still have a little piece of pin in the middle of the bone. They said they could open it back up and rebreak it to get it out and I said forget it. My hand and wrist kills me everytime it gets cold.

Here's to a speedy recovery. Make sure you get some good PT after that heals to gain mobility and flexibility back.
