Herro peeps,
I’m coming up on 17 years in December of doing nanos and finally got a “real” tank together. Ordered it on 2/5, received on the 23rd, and nearly 6 months in (as of yesterday, the 13th) she be rolling. Tossed in the fritz/nitrocycle combo at 1.026 sg and left the heater at the preprogrammed 77 temp. This thing went through many changes (like cutting up a $1k sump to fit the roller), and I completely refinished the room prior to the build in preparation, but throughout, I’ve had the same vision for livestock: softies, some lps and a pretty light load of basic fish. Looking to just do water changes (albeit bigger than that of my past tanks) and maybe add two dosing pumps to the controller board in the future, if need be. Still gotta clean up some messy wires and such, but I was excited to share my project finally with ya’ll, and snapped some quick phone pics.

Added some more rock to the scape till I liked it, and threw the remainder in the sump and fuge. Tank was cycled on the 20th, but I dosed ammonia to 1.5 and checked back 24hrs later to confirm. Also, was doing laundry and figured I’d give those absurdly priced jacks some limelight. They gots big feets (fingers crossed they don’t push through the floor lol.) Adding 4 jars of galaxy pods, chaeto (I know it’s early; I just wanted to give ‘em a home), more fritz for sh*ts, coralline algae, and two PNS cultures. Gonna do Amphipods soon, then a pair of clowns if it keeps going smooth. Praise be to Fishlah

Thanks! I’m pretty limited on room, vertically, but the rock piles make for nice depth, and hopefully coral placement. That said, my pics of the tank all seem to suck. May need to get a fancy phone filter.

I really wanted this tank, but after making a pvc cut out I realized it couldn't make it around 3 tight 90 degres turns and down the stairs.

You can get pretty decent phone shots if you drop the blues down a little bit. I usually set the radions to the 14k settings to take pics with my z6 and/or phone. It leaves enough blue to look good, but not enough to look like windex.

excited to see more!

I’ll definitely try turning the blues down next update (probably shoulda thought of that before.) Two of us had to flip it on it’s side twice to get it in, and it was an anxiety ridden endeavor for sure. Still trying to figure out what to do with the suction cups too, with no glass buildings around here to scale.

yeah i had to do the same thing, I hated turning it on it's side. The hardest part was trusting the suction cups. hahah

It’s seems impossible to get it rolling. May be the downside to a “display” type refugium vs inline. Anyone got a fuge setup similar to this that’s got it tumbling?

I was really surprised just how heavy it was (used to nanos that you can just pick up and go with.) Much respect for fellow members here with “big” tanks after dealing with the logistical issues that this “medium” sizes one posed.

One week in and everything has survived (two blood orange clowns, a royal gramma, a handful of nassarius snails, and a bunch of softies) so I took pics with an orange filter on AB+ (at 50%). The difference looks more pronounced between gen 5 and gen 6 radions in pics, but is noticeable to the eye, in case anyone is thinking about just adding a new one to a preexisting tank.
