Figured I would start my build thread since things are moving along quickly.

Equipment:
Innovative Marine 50 gallon AIO
APS stand (black)
TUNZE 3155 osmolator auto top off
5 gallon Crystal Ato
Jebao slw-30 wavemaker
Dual 100 watt titanium heaters w/ Inkbird 306t
24” Aquatic Life Hybrid with 4 blue+
Scape:
30 lbs dry aragonite natural bottom
20 lbs STAX rocks
The Stax rock is cemented together in 4 pieces for easy removal if need be

Current livestock:

This is my first tank in about 10 years, kept 2 fowlr predator fish tanks, a 55 and a 90. Decided to get back into it a couple months ago and going for a mixed reef tank. This started as a 20g tank, I got my first two fish after cycling (pair of onyx clowns). But, those 2 fish ended up with a bad case of ICH. So my options were to pull everything out of the tank and setup a 10g as a quarantine, or buy a bigger tank and just use the 20g as my quarantine. Wanting a bigger tank anyways I obviously opted for the second option. So I ended up picking up a midas blenny, thinking I might as well quarantine all the fish at once. So at this point the clowns have been in quarantine since may 22, the midas blenny June 7, with copper treatment and metro started June 7

And the quarantine tank/livestock. Second pic was right after setup. Now there are just 2 rocks at the bottom and still the sand bed, not ideal while quarantining but figured it’d give the flame hawk and midas some comfort. Everything will be taken out and trashed afterwords. Thinking about painting the bottom and back wall and turning it into a coral quarantine/ frag tank after this set of fish is thru.

So this weeks update is pretty disappointing. Moved the 2 clownfish and midas blenny into the dt because the pump on my tidal filter seized up, came home to my qt cloudy and covered with slime. Freaked out and it was too late to go to the lfs so I dumped them in the dt. 3 days later, the clowns look like this

So as I’m waiting for my new filter to come in, I painted the qt back glass and bottom, black. When the new hob filter came in I immediately threw the 3 fish back into the quarantine tank. Really sucks as the clowns were in quarantine for 60 days and the gold midas for 30. The midas is not looking hot at all and the clowns seem fine like always.

And since I’ve had Covid for the past couple of days I’ve been bored out of my mind, so I tried a little wire management and also got my new light fixture hung, a 24” aquatic life hybrid with 4 b+
here’s a pic of the fixture and tank lit up

a pic of what I ended up with on the wiring, not perfect or done by any means but I’m happy with it for now.
